Over the past few weeks, I’ve been in a handful of conversations about NFTs and I noticed that I seem to be holding a perspective that is not (yet?) widely shared.
I haven’t been able to stop thinking about NFTs and decentralized tech/tools as means of upgrading our collective human operating system. This piece really definitely makes it feel more real… like this digital-distributed-emergent-Cambrian-explosion is really happening. It gives rise to some much needed optimism.
On a similar note, if you haven’t checked out Balaji’s thoughts on the future of Nations (being obsoleted by the rise of cloud nations), you should totally check it out.
I would love to be a fly on the wall if you two ever have a chat (on a podcast perhaps?).
That was viscerally clarifying for me. My initial reaction to Bitcoin (once the pieces clicked into place), was that it will facilitate such rapid changes in human behaviour that it would be fitting to call it a shift in consciousness. Indeed technology has been affecting/facilitating /shifting our consciousness since basic stone tools were implemented back in the day. If Bitcoin disrupted the concepts we utilise to understand/use money, then can it be said that NFTs describe the pathology of how cultural concepts are disrupted , restructured and how new meaning and values are formed? (A bit like a psychedelic trip?) And perhaps all the concepts we utilise to understand & navigate the world are cultural concepts.
There is an interesting tension here between unique -essence tokens and anti-rivalrous goods. Would love to see you riff on/ integrate the two concepts. I am supposing it might have to do with 1) although NFT's are unique and indivisible (essences, qualities not quantities) they can procreate, have offspring at zero marginal costs for production? Something along those lines? (apologies in advance if I just don't get it)
Your essay "The war on sensemaking" (2017), which I found in Medium, makes Essay of the Decade, and it is not even close. I don't know how I missed you for so long. Looking forward to read all of your pieces from now on. If I understood it correctly new work will appear here and not in Medium. I do encourage you to repost your masterpiece here.
Let's jam sometime. I've got entangled memes with you, going back awhile now. We're about to go into production on a massive 8.5 year 4 episode film series to culminate in 2029.
This fractal impact enterprise, called the neXt re~generations, will make good on the prophecies of BUCKY Fuller.

Exactly.

The true, the good, now the beautiful.
Captains, build your ships. See you in the sea.
Really enjoyed the format of this, clarifying the terms before expounding. Incredible work as always.
Dear Jordan,
Your essay "The war on sensemaking" (2017), which I found in Medium, makes Essay of the Decade, and it is not even close. I don't know how I missed you for so long. Yours truly

very nice ...

We'd love to work with you.
! Well that is the best possible result.
